Learning Lighthouse Dyslexia

We provide comprehensive diagnostic assessments, dyslexia screening and personalised tuition for children and young people experiencing literacy difficulties. Identifying learning differences early can help build confidence, support progress, and improve wellbeing. A formal diagnosis enables families and schools to access the appropriate support, including examination access arrangements where needed. We work face to face with children and young people in Saddleworth, Oldham, Tameside, Rochdale and surrounding areas.

Expert Dyslexia Assessments

Supporting children and young people aged 8–16 through specialist diagnostic assessments that build a detailed understanding of individual learning strengths and difficulties. Through a comprehensive review of educational history, standardised diagnostic testing, and careful analysis of assessment findings, we provide clear recommendations to support progress at school, home, and beyond.

What to Expect

A typical diagnostic session lasts around 3 hours. We explore literacy attainment, phonics, language, speed of processing, and cognitive skills in a supportive 1:1 environment, tailored to your child's needs.

Next Steps

Following the session, we provide a full AMBDA/APC certified diagnostic report. We also offer a feedback session to discuss findings and provide practical advice for home and school strategies.

Specialist Screening Ages 6-16

Oldham, Saddleworth and surrounding areas

Dyslexia Sceening

If you are concerned that your child may be dyslexic, our screening service provides a professional overview of their learning profile, helping to identify strengths, areas of difficulty, and the likelihood of dyslexia, plus recommendations to support learning.

Unlike many standard screening tools, our screening process is individually tailored and carried out by qualified dyslexia professionals. We combine professional expertise with standardised assessment measures to build a clear picture of your child's learning needs.

Following the screening, families receive a written report outlining strengths, areas of challenge, an indication of the likelihood of dyslexia, and practical recommendations for next steps.

Ideal for families who:

  • Have concerns about reading, spelling, writing, memory, or processing skills.

  • Would like a clearer understanding of their child's learning profile.

  • Are unsure whether a full diagnostic assessment is needed.

  • Want recommendations to support learning at home and in school.
